Being a well-known model has its perks, but you also have to deal with the public scrutinizing you at every turn. Because they are models, they are criticized about their bodies. When they’re famous, the public feel they can freely comment on their looks, bodies, and especially any flaws that they perceive. Good thing Ashley Graham is a strong woman. She is the first plus-size model to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue. Ashley is now helping change society’s perception on women’s bodies.
Ashley posted this pretty photo of herself riding a bicycle and showing off her long legs.
She captioned that photo “A little cellulite never hurt nobody. Stop judging yourself, embrace the things that society has called ‘ugly.’ #lovetheskinyourein #beautybeyondsize.”
Society is so used to seeing edited photos of models with completely airbrushed legs, stomachs, and other perfect body parts. To have Ashley Graham, well-known plus-size model, posting a photo that is not considered perfect, that is a refreshing change. It’s a photo that shows her looking casual and happy, completely opposite to posed, pouty modeling shots that are typically shown in magazines.
Whether you want to cover up in a stylish dress or show off your body in a skimpy bikini, you should be able to feel comfortable to do what makes you happy. A little cellulite should not stop you from doing anything because even models have to deal with that common problem. Take a lesson from Ashley Graham and just love your body, flaws and all.
