Mzznaki Tetteh is a nurse from Ghana. She wanted to celebrate her engagement to her partner construction worker Kojo Amoah, so she posted a series of photos on her Instagram account. She did not expect to receive a barrage of negative comments from her followers. She is now hitting back at the online trolls who made awful jokes and comments on her photo which shows her being lifted by her fiance.
There were a few congratulatory messages but the comments that stand out are the ones that are about Mzznaki’s size. The bride-to-be wasn’t affected, instead she shared a photo of herself exuding confidence. She captioned it, “Still confident . . . your rubbish comments ain’t ruining my happiness . . . thanks to all for the compliments and best wishes…am honoured.”
One person commented on the photo, “How is that beautiful?” Another person cruelly said, “He just caught himself a 400 pounder right there.” There were also unsolicited comments about Mzznaki’s health with one woman writing, “You beautiful hun, but a lil weight loss will help. #healthiswealth. Congrats and God bless.”
Some of the online trolls even debated with each other after some remarked that the photo gave them hope. Mzznaki’s supporters went after the trolls saying:
“Attention for this picture bothers me so much, why are you so impressed? This is normal, they are in love like a lot of others couples. She posted a series of beautiful pictures with her man (especially one where they get a hug) on the page, but when you see this one, you need to comment something “cute” or “this is true love”? Why? ‘Cause she’s curvy and he can lift her?”
Another of Mzznaki’s supporters said, “My sentiments exactly. Comments like ‘I have hope now’ and ‘this is real love’ – seriously? Come on. So because she’s plus size she can’t be in love or be loved . . . or marry for that matter. It’s just outrageous.”
Her loving fiance also came to Mzznaki’s defense telling Ghana Today, “I normally post pictures of me and my girlfriend all the time and I wasn’t expecting this at all. I just posted it, we did a photo shoot and I thought it was nice so I posted it. To me, I have always been a fan of plus-size women, and I am so proud of my woman and I don’t care about what anybody says out there.”
The confident nurse also won a new army of fans on Instagram. Since her posting, her followers have increased by 10,000. Currently she has an impressive 26,000 followers. Mzznaki and Kojo are still finalizing their plans for their big day which will be on June 25.
