Sophie Simmons was once so fed up with the modeling industry that she decided to quit. She has now returned to the modeling scene more voluptuous and beautiful than ever before.
The daughter of Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed caught the attention of the world when her ad campaign for Adore lingerie was launched on the Internet.
Speaking to The Dailymail in California, Sophie Simmons says the campaign made her confront her fears, but she was more shocked to find that the public reacted in such a big way to seeing her butt.
She explains, “My butt was out but you know what, it’s just a butt and everyone freaks out about them but it’s just a butt. I don’t think it is that big of a deal.”
Like most models, she has been accused of editing her photo, but she confirmed that is was an unretouched image.
Stripping down to her underwear was a big step for the model. She had to fight her self-doubt and confront her old fears because she used to not like her body. Her mother was a former straight-size model, so growing up she has had to deal with comparisons.
She now feels that there are much more options in terms of modeling now than there was a few years ago. She is now ready to be part of the modeling world and help continue to break down the barriers between straight and plus size. Sophie had struggled before to get jobs as a model when she went from straight size to a more curvy, womanly figure.
During her Sophie Simmons struggles with her body confidence, her parents were very supportive. She started modeling at 14 years old. At that time, she wore sizes 2 to 4, and she had no problem being a straight-size model. But as she got older, her body changed. She started to fill out and have curves. She struggled to find the right jobs because no one wanted to hire her. She quit modeling, and her parents supported her decision.
In her time off, Sophie learned to be comfortable and confident in her body. Meanwhile, the modeling world was experiencing its own changes.
Since she has rejoined the modeling industry, Sophie noticed the shift in the fashion world. They are now embracing curvy figures because it is what is “in” as of the moment. There are also many more modeling agencies that have opened and are willing to cater to a full-figured body type.
