Finding the perfect pair of denim jeans is a challenge, especially for plus-size gals. Even the most fashion-forward pieces offer a range of sizes that can be incredibly tricky to choose from. As a curvy woman, you want to make sure that your jeans show off your best assets without having to sacrifice comfort and style. 

Fortunately, two of the world’s biggest brands are about to ease every woman’s denim-shopping woes. The news that Madewell and J.Crew are expanding their denim size range is delighting women everywhere for obvious reasons. The announcement was made last week on Madewell’s official website with its sister company, J.Crew, following suit.

“Extended sizes? We’re on it.”

This was the post plastered on Madewell’s website landing page on January 23, 2018. It is a reference to the brand’s upcoming denim collection, which will now include sizes 33–35 and a new style made exclusively for curvy women. 

One of Madewell’s favorite styles is the Curvy High-Rise Skinny Jean. The design comes in three washes namely Ontario, Lucille, and Black Sea. Madewell promises to reintroduce the style with a few “adjustments,” planning to add more room on the high hip, low hip, and top of the thigh. The rise will also be higher, while the waistband will be contoured in a way that mimics a woman’s body.

It’s worth noting that Madewell lists their extended range as 16, 18, and 20. As stated above, sizing varies from brand to brand, so the trick is to check the actual measurements before deciding on a certain style. For both Madewell and J.Crew, the extended sizes are mixed in with the regular denim selection.

With these popular jean brands becoming more inclusive by offering a wider range of sizes, Madewell and J.Crew are doing a huge favor not only their customers but their business as well. The plus-size women’s market is a lucrative one, and it’s quite confusing how only a handful of businesses have actually grabbed the opportunity to invest in it. 

Nonetheless, Madewell and J.Crew’s move has received a ton of positive responses from social media. Hopefully, this is a trend that will inspire other brands to do the same.
