Stylish plus-size options are hard to find these days. But the biggest brands are continuously trying to make shopping for women a lot easier by revamping their size options. Nike happens to be one of those brands that are joining the bandwagon. By 2017, the number one athletic brand is set to be more size inclusive for their upcoming spring collection, adding close to 200 options for plus-size women. Nike also has an advanced treat for their customers this holiday season as they recently added 85 new pieces to their collection.
Nike Increase Size Range for Plus-Size Women
In a statement released to Refinery29, Nike had this to say about their big announcement:
“Nike recognizes that women are stronger, bolder, and more outspoken than ever. In today’s world, sport is no longer something that she does, it’s who she is. The days where we have to add ‘female’ before ‘athlete’ are over. She is an athlete, period. And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes’ diversity, from ethnicity to body shape.”
Plus-size clothing can be seen on the racks of Nike stores for quite a while. But what makes their decision so groundbreaking is that it comes at a time where women of all shapes and sizes are slowly being accepted in the retail industry. American superstore Meijer just recently dropped the plus-size label in their outlets, and big time designers such as Cristian Siriano are putting plus-size women in the limelight.

Nike’s Holiday Sportswear Collection
Nike’s size expansion has captured social media users everywhere, with women commending the brand for being more inclusive toward women. They’ve officially launched their campaign online by posting several photos on their official Web site and Instagram page. Among the options already available are sleek cover-ups and racerback tanks. Hopefully, this will also serve as a wake-up call for other athletic brands to have more size options so they can widen their market and cater to more women worldwide.
