Because they are immersed in the world of fashion, it can be kind of expected for plus size models to eventually develop their own clothing lines. Plus size models like Tara Megan Gale, Elle Macpherson and Jennifer Hawkins are just a few of the names of plus-size models, who ventured outside of their modeling career by creating their own fashion line.
The newest addition to join this roster is plus-size model Laura Wells.
Well’s illustrious career is composed of being photographed and representing fashion brands like The Upside, Berlei, ASOS and Myer, to name a few. With summer around the corner, the first agenda on Wells list was to design a swimsuit line for curvy women.
The incredible twist to her new collection is the fact that the swimsuits are eco-friendly made entirely of 100 percent recycled material. This environmental scientist and body positive activist turned plus size model has teamed up with the famous US swimwear brand Swimsuits for All. Her newest collection will be featured in the brand’s trend range named “Swim Sexy”.
Her swimwear collection features uniquely designed swimsuits that showcase the ocean with their coral reef designs. The line includes one and two piece suits, with zippers, criss-cross straps, plunging V-necklines and high-waist bottoms.
Wells’ newest summer line caters to sizes ranging from 10 to 24.
The Swim Sexy suits are made from Recotex, a 100 percent recycled yarn that uses polyester and spandex, which are also tested with chlorine and sea water.
The plus size model revealed that the inspiration to create the line came through a conversation she had with the US brand, while working with them on one particular photo shoot.
“Swimsuitsforall gave me an opportunity to merge my passion for the ocean’s beauty with my role as an ambassador for body positivity, I am very excited for customers to see how sexy eco-friendly swimsuits can be!”
