Another New York Fashion Week has gone by! The curve society is keeping tabs on how many—and who—walked the runway for Fall 2019 collection, which commenced on February 6 at Spring Studios.
In his open letter, Council of Designers of America (CFDA) president and CEO Steven Kolb reminded everyone that the show’s aim remains to “promote diversity and inclusion, on and off the runway,” a mission that echoed through the walls of fashion rooms.
The February show was kicked off by newcomer 11 Honoré, the luxury e-commerce site that caters to all sizes. Besides them, 15+ brands and designers banded with plus-size models to make the NYFW Fall 2019 the best show there is.

NYFW Fall 2019 Directory: Meet the Plus-Size Brands and Models That Strutted Down the FW Runway
This year’s lineup featured a total of 94 appearances by full-figured models, breaking the record of Spring 2019’s tally of 72. On top of that, two fashion brands, Veronica Beard and AREA, by having plus-size models walk the runway for them!
Below is a list of brands, designers, and plus-size models that made NYFW Fall 2019 the historic show that it was.
1. Christian Siriano
This year, Christian Siriano introduced a space-themed collection with the monochromatic, metallic, and shimmery evening gowns. To end his set, Ashley Graham cat-walked the stage, wearing a sparkly headpiece and a translucent mesh gown embellished with crystals.
Earthy tones, vivid hues, and offbeat sixties-inspired pieces completed AREA’s collection at NYFW Fall 2019 show. With Betsy Eske and Tehya Mar on board, AREA made history by featuring two plus-size models for the first time!
3. Rebekka Minkoff
Rebekka Minkoff designs elegant, simple, and stylish couture for the plus-size ladies. Sporting her collection was Iskra Lawrence, a famous curve model, who walked the runway in a silk-satin red dress.
4. Prabal Gurung
Prabal Gurung paid homage to his Nepalese roots by incorporating rich-tone native brocades into his collection, he tags East Meets Wests. Continuing to serve the plus-size section, Prabal was joined by Ashley Graham, the curvy crowd’s favorite.
5. Eckhaus Latta
The duo of Eckhaus Latta brought the visual elements of the street into the fashion show. Their work was even more appreciated as Paloma Elsesser flaunted the square mosaic–patterned dress paired with tan winter boots.
The future-forward athletic wear brand Chromat is a champion to all genders, multiple races, various religions—and even plus-size ladies! Curve models Nyawal Tut, Mia Kang, and Ingrid Medeiros graced the runway to represent the brand. Fans also came cheering for plus-size and cancer survivor Ericka Hart, who wore wearing an old-rose bodysuit and mesh pants.
7. Maryam Nassir Zadeh
Once again, Paloma Elsesser appeared at this year’s fashion show for Maryam Nassir Zadeh. She wore a voluminous Egyptian blue ensemble with an inner cami-tube.
8. Michael Kors
Michael Kors conquered the runway again! Backing him up in the event was Swedish model Sabina Karlsson, who sported the perfect Gatsby-inspired look—shimmery rustic dress, feathered hemline, and a flapper headpiece.
9. Kim Shui
Kim Shui added a different taste to fashion, which received mixed reviews from fashion critics. Nonetheless, she stunned the crowd with her bright-colored couture worn by plus-size models Samirah Raheem, Stella Duval, Tatiana Williams, and Yasmin Geurts.
Velvets, silks, and faux fur—these were Cushnie’s fashion staples. Completing the brand’s set were Marquita Pring, wearing a midnight blue silk string-gown, and Candice Huffine, who wore a red side-shoulder velvet gown.
11. Sandy Liang
A laid-back fashion was the inspiration behind Sandy Liang’s collection, which consisted of ruffled dresses, loose-fitting trousers, and over-sized jackets. Two of her collection were worn by curve models Imani and Dusty Rose Ryan.
12. Veronica Beard
This year, sisters-in-law Veronica Miele and Veronica Swanson expanded their brand to cater to plus-size ladies. Of course, there’s not a better way to tell the world about it than styling Katie Sturino as one of their models for Fall 2019.
13. 11 Honoré
The coming of 11 Honoré to NYFW is definitely one of the proud moments for the plus-size community; they even opened this year’s show! It was quite a gala they put up, especially when plus-size models Tash Ncube, Tara Lyn, Lauren Chan, and Precious Lee, among other models, strutted the runway.
14. Tadashi Shoji
Tadashi Shoji’s collection stormed the fashion week with his set of draped, pleated, lace-embroidered floor-length evening gowns. His pieces were a perfect fit for Mia Kang and Karoline Bjørnelykke and more than ever accentuated their curvy physique.
15. Gypsy Sport
The crowd not only applauded Gypsy Sport’s striking apparels, they were praising the brand’s stunning models too, particularly the plus-size ladies joining their team. Among them was Jari Jones, who wore a lush chemise. There was Raisa Flowers too, who put on a fully-beaded halter matched with white side-strap pants.
Yuna Yang, Burnett, and Gauntlett Cheng were also at the event to raise the plus-size fashion flag. Seeing such achievement for this season, several organizations, designers, and models, along with fashion fans, are anticipating for a better show this Spring 2020.
