The plus-size fans of Sanrio character Hello Kitty are going to be very excited.
On July 14, 2016, plus-size retailer Torrid launched the first plus-size Hello Kitty collection. The retailer collaborated with Sanrio, which is the company that owns the Hello Kitty brand. They have created a capsule collection of clothing that will be exclusively available on Torrid.com.
Torrid said of the collection that it “infuses the modern fashion silhouettes with specially designed Hello Kitty prints, hardware, and accents. Ranging from dresses, skirts, and tops, the collection incorporates unique detailing such as buttons in the shape of Hello Kitty’s bow and a custom jacquard Hello Kitty pattern.”
Vice president of Brand Management for Sanrio, Inc., Jill Koch, released this official statement about the collection:
“The debut Hello Kitty Torrid collection blends iconic Hello Kitty graphics with modern fashion styles that will be hit with Hello Kitty fans and Torrid customers.”
Hello Kitty is a brand that is loved by children and adults all over the world. This is the first collection and it will contain 11 pieces, which include dresses, skirts, cropped tops, and more. It will come in sizes 10 to 30 and have a price range of $38 to $68 dollars.
The face of the campaign will be plus-size fashion blogger Amina Mucciolo of Studio Mucci. Mucciolo is a huge Hello Kitty fan, so this is the perfect collaboration.
Sanrio and Torrid celebrated the collection launch by doing a pop-up shopping event at the Irvine Spectrum Center branch of Torrid.
Mucciolo was there to grace the event and meet with fans of Torrid who were able to shop the collection in store. The hashtag #HELLOKITTYXTORRID is being used to support the campaign of the first plus-size Sanrio collection.
